Ultra-Fine Barium Sulfate Pigments
Barifine pigments
are best described as inorganic pigment dispersants for use
in all types of coatings. They are highly transparent pigments
that increase a coatings gloss and depth of image through
improved flow & leveling and reduced surface defects (such
as pinholes, fisheyes and orange peel).
As dispersants,
they encapsulate prime pigments; enhancing the prime pigments
efficiency by reducing or eliminating any tendency to reagglomerate.
Hence, Barifine usage can minimize the amount of hiding and
colored pigments used in a formulation. For example, Barifine
pigments typically increase gloss and jetness in black coatings.
In metallic finishes,
Barifines provide excellent metal control.
Note: Barifines BF-20 and BF-21 are available in the
"P" form, which means more easily dispersed than the standard
grade. Barifine BF-20 is also available in the "F" form, which
is the easiest dispersing form of "BF-20".
Barifine
BF-1 - has a mean particle size of 0.05um when completely
dispersed. It is a positively charged particle that has a
lesser affect on pigment translucency than "BF-20". Barifine
BF-1 is primarily targeted to the ink industry.
Barifine
BF-10
Barifine
BF-20 - is the general-purpose grade of Barifine.
With a mean particle size of 0.03um when completely dispersed,
"BF-20" is the finest of the Barifine pigments. It is the
Barifine of choice for use with larger particle sized organic
pigments (e.g., yellows & reds) and metal flake pigments.
"BF-20" is a positively charged particle.
Barifine
BF-21 - has a mean particle size of 0.05um when completely
dispersed. It is a negatively charged particle that performs
best with finer particle sized organic pigments (e.g., phthalocyanine
pigments) and carbon black.
Barifine
BF-40
- for use with carbon blacks for jetness
