| CIMBAR High
Purity White Barytes
Naturally occurring
barium sulfate pigments, barytes, are useful in a variety
of applications as they are chemically inert (e.g., acid resistant).
They have a high density, a low oil absorption, and a low
refractive index. Barytes are radiopaque, and they are UV
light reflectors. They positively impact the performance properties
of formulated products. CIMBAR grade barytes combine these
properties with a high brightness; making them useful in lighter
colors, whites and clears.
Note: Barytes pigments perform well in high solids,
solvent and water borne applications. Like most mineral filler
pigments, coarser products tend to be more inexpensive than
finer products.
Cimbar
PC - is specificaly designed for powder coatings.
It has a very narrow paticle size distribution and can allow
for greater gloss control with 100% passing 325 mesh and a
9-10 micron median particle size
Cimbar
EX - is the finest particle sized natural barytes
currently marketed in the U.S. Applications include high gloss
enamels, powder coatings, plastics, inks and other products
requiring a topsize finer than 8 microns. Cimbar EX is an
economical alternative to synthetic barium sulfate pigments
(blanc fixe) with mean particle sizes in the 0.7-1.0 micron
range.
Cimbar
UF - is used in many of the same applications as "EX".
However, its use is not recommended in dry films thinner than
1 mil (25um). An economical alternative to blanc fixe pigments
having mean particle sizes of 1.5-2.5um.
Cimbar
XF - is a general purpose grade of barytes. Its topsize
is fine enough for it to be used in most high gloss and semi-gloss
enamels, but it is also used in a variety of primers, inks,
plastics and other applications where a smooth surface is
required and/or where abrasion may be an issue. "XF" is often
the reinforcing filler of choice in white rubber compounds.
Cimbar
CF - is specifically designed for use in powder coatings
and other applications sensitive to the affect of ultrafine
particles on flow & leveling.
Cimbar
325 - is our coarsest, least expensive, white barytes.
It is commonly used in matte finish and lower gloss coatings;
gasketing compounds; brake pads; sealants; rubber compounds;
urethane & pvc foams; etc.
Cimbar
BF - is the next generation of precipitated
extenders. With its micro fine particle size, high barium
sulfate content, low solubility, high brightness and chemical
inertness, BF is ideal for applications such as topcoats,
printing inks, powder coatings and lead-acid batteries as
well as many others.
